Powers
All Administrative powers of Secretary of the Ministry/Department as per the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules - 1964, Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965 and Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972 in respect of SPG.
All Financial powers delegated to Secretary, as per the Government of India's General Financial Rules 2005 and Delegation of Financial Powers issued by Ministry of Finance and any other financial powers delegated by the competent authority by a special or general order in respect of the matters of SPG.
Nodal/Sanctioning authority in respect of policy relating to procurement of jammers by the State Governments and Central Police Forces. And all operational proposals of SPG are approved and processed by Secretary (Security).
Responsibilities
Secretary (Security) is the administrative head of the Special Protection Group (SPG) and is responsible for closely monitoring the security arrangements for the Prime Minister, former Prime Ministers and members of their immediate families in India and abroad. Work relating to preparation and review of Crisis Management Plan and National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), review and updating of Union War Book.
